Me? Quirky?

What are your Top 3 quirks?

3. Driving: I don’t know if it’s a male thing (because Christina and Kimberlee aren’t like this), or it’s a learned thing (because Bammy is, Adam is, and Julian is working on it), but I absolutely must know where my car is at all times.  Not that my wife is not a safe driver, but there’s a difference between “a safe driver” and “I can hit a rock with my back tire after missing it with my front because I know, in minute detail, how my wheels track differently”.  I definitely fall into the latter category.

2. Sandals: I have a saying I learned from a priest many years ago:  Socks are for Shoes … Feet are for Sandals.  So far, Oregon’s weather has defeated me less than a handful of times.  I only wear shoes when bicycling (clipless pedals), paintballing, or slogging through thick mud (such as cutting down a Christmas Tree).  Otherwise, it’s Birks for me!

1. Money.  OK … even I don’t get this one.  My bills in my money clip have to be faced, in order, folded neatly, lowest bills on the outside.  I sometimes break this rule (like this morning when I bought a latte and my carpool was waiting outside impatiently), but I fix it as soon as I look at it again.  It just irks me for some reason I don’t get.

None of this has anything to do with survival … well … maybe the first … meh.

I need to give you my dad's number... he's as obsessive about his money clip as you are!

Socks with sandles are like a really big thing this season ... seriously- although I do not get it either!

Crap - these were supposed to be about survival??? I totally messed up, then.

I love that your group is good at 'patiently' waiting. ; )

Oh - and you're in PDX, too??? Nicetomeetcha!

My husband is all about knowing the car -- and he knows how to diagnose every sound or difference in "feel".

Love the sandals -- no socks. I love my Birks, my Chacos, my Keens and my flip flops! :)

I face my bills in my wallet, thinking it comes from my waitress days when we had to count our tips, I can't stand them being all mixed up!

Right there with ya!

Hi Doug,

I have many quirks -- at least that's what my teenage daughter would say. She's convinced that my minor idiosyncrasies are a consequence of ADD. So my top three are:

Shoes must be shined. I believe that this is a holdover from the four years I spent in Junior ROTC in high school. To my superiors, shined shoes and glistening brass buttons were essentials. Can you believe a high school kid having to worry about such things?

Ironing. I don't care if the label reads permanent press, I'm ironing the shirt. It's as if I feel that I am roaming the earth like a troll if I don't go through the ironing ritual. I even press a fresh hankie each day. Sad, I know.

The money facing thing. I don't use a clip, like you, but the cash in my pocket must be properly aligned. We are of like mind on this one. Don't know if that's a good thing. :)

OK ... for funny, I found out this weekend that my father is the same way about the money in his money clip. Now I'm really confused ... how can I grow up to be just like him when I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW!?!?

LOL to that one. Oh, and he blames the car thing on Bammy's dad. He said Grandpa taught him to be the same way, so he's voting on "learned" ... only time will tell.

If you could have gotten something from your dad, how about balancing the frea--your checkbook? I don't do mine because I married an accountant...and it's sometimes fun to watch him bounce off the walls.
