Having spent the last 24ish hours fighting with Topher, I'd have to say that the "honeymoon" period is done.
He's now admitting that he's missing his mom. He's rebelling against the fact that he has responsibilities. We're keeping him from reading (never mind the fact that he spends 20-30 hours a week online playing WoW). We're making him clean. We're making his life miserable.
So: He's made ours miserable. He says he wants to move out (not an option). He says he doesn't like our family. Then he says he wants to be here and loves us.
He's confused. He's hurting. He's finally coming to grips with the terrible situation he has been in, and the terrible situation he is in, in that he's been torn out of the family he knows and is having to adjust at the age of 14.
It's painful to watch. It's hard to live with.
We'll get through it together. And we'll be stronger for it.

Bummer.
14 year olds seem to think they know everthing - all why us dads try to teach 'em what we know...
Hang in there man... This is bound to have it's up's and downs (like a rollercoaster) over time - but (also like a rollercoaster) - when you are done, you say "what a fun ride"!
Being the big sports guy that I am, I like to compare everything to a team. You all are players on the team and you will all come together to lift up the player that is down right now.
The thing that makes you guys a great team is that you don't quit. Keep working man.
