Welcome to the family!

Topher's sister had her baby this morning.  Somewhere around 6:00.  The baby weighed in between 5 and 6 pounds.  Mother and baby are doing fine!

She's still living with her mother.  She's still in what DHS described as an unsafe environment for an infant.  So, the questions are now running through my head.  Will DHS follow through, or were they just empty threats?  Will they continue with their promise to place him with us?  How much sleep am I going to be getting over the next several weeks?

We've spent the day today placing calls to the worker, cleaning house, and basically going into a full standing panic.  There are, as I see it, two basic choices:  The baby comes home to us and is thus part of our family, or the baby goes home to her and is part of Topher's family, and thus, again, part of our family.

In either case, Welcome Joshua Charles (Hunter) to our thermo-nuclear family!

We survive it all ... together ...

Indeed, welcome to the world :-) Regardless of circumstances, it's an opportunity and that's good.
